Thanksgiving 2008!

Well we had a very exciting first Thanksgiving for Madelyn and the family. First we traveled to Dallas to visit Jared's family and we had a great time. Miss Madelyn got to visit with all of her grandparents and great grandparents and she just wore herself out with kisses and hugs! Then we traveled to Houston to visit my family and Madelyn got to see her cousins and oh there where so many there! She had so much fun playing with the kids she slept great every night! My mom had a local petting zoo come to the house for the kids and Madelyn got to ride her first pony! She was a little intimidated by the goat at first but then she really seemed to like it. We all had a great week and we are now home decorating for Christmas! We are so excited for Madelyn's first Christmas probably a little more than she is! Well enjoy the new pics and soon we will post some of her and her visit to see Santa Clause!

Autumn fun

Well it is mid October now and we are soooo excited for Halloween! Little Madelyn is going to be a ladybug and the cutest one ever! This past weekend we went to watch a soccer game for our friends daughter and then went to the Hutto "Olde Tymes Festival" to see what our town is all about. A bunch of rednecks is all we found...haha Madelyn did get to play some games though and it was a fun experience.

As for all of us we are doing well and I will post some new pics from the past weekend. Madelyn goes to get her flu shot tomorrow so y'all wish her luck that she doesn't cry too much!! More updates to come soon!

Thanks for the wait....

I know it's been a while since we've posted on here, and you can blame 40% on me, and 60% on the wife... well, 70% on the wife, 30% on me... ;o)

The kiddo is doing great. She is amazing her parents each and every day which leaves us guessing as to what comes next. At 4 months she was rolling over, 5 months she was crawling, 6 months she was standing, and now at 7.5 months we're walking. I know, I can't believe it either. We'll post some pics of her walking and see if we can get a video uploaded as well.

Other than looking after our little superwoman, the Bristow's headed to Dallas this last weekend for Madelyn to meet some extended and immediate family and she did great. Normally, she is afraid of guys ( score one for dad! ) but she took to Great Grandpa Bristow quick with big hugs (she's a hugger now ).

Well stay tuned for more updates and I'll be sure to keep the wife on top of this.

Sad Sad Month....

As July comes to a close, we look back and realize that this was a very sad, but exciting month. Our little girl is growing up a little too quick for our taste as we had two unexpected firsts.... Her first tooth and her first crawl... At first, we thought it was great! But now we realize, that if we turn our back on her for one second, she's making a mad dash towards the closest electronic. Looks like it's finally time to start "Baby Proofing" the house.

Other than those two biggies, we're all doing well. Stay tuned for more updates later on in the week.

End of July update....

This has been a very exciting month for the Bristow family... We witnessed the marriage of some good friends of ours and got to watch our baby girl take her first crawl! And if that was not enough, then hold on to your pants, because she cut her first tooth! We are in the early design stages to figure out just how we're going to get a picture of it since she can't keep her tongue in her mouth but hopefully soon we'll have one up on here.

Other than that, we are still trying to narrow down what's wrong with Genea. I think it's gout by the way she smells ;o) ( jk, love you wife) She had a doctors appointment today and they referred her to a gallbladder specialist. ( sp? ) Her next appointment is on Thursday at 9:00am. So hopefully we'll know a little more what exactly is going on.

Other than that, nothing big happening here. Stay tuned for more pics of our little boogerwulf ( Madelyn ) and take care!

What a busy summer...

Well things have been pretty busy for us lately and we are all ready for a rest! The family is doing great and little Madelyn is growing bigger everyday. She has started eating cereal and veggies and starts on her fruits soon! I swear she is trying to learn how to crawl, but it is so fun to watch her scoot across the floor!

As far as the parents, we're for the most part doing great. But what's life without a little ambiguity. We've had a few curveballs thrown our way but we're just rolling with the punches. ( Watching ESPN so sorry for the sports cliches )

Stay tuned, more updates to come soon!

Hello everyone!

Well after a long week of traveling to visit Danielle, Jason and the kiddos in Oklahoma we are now back in Hutto trying to get some rest! Madelyn is getting so big it is crazy! She now rolls over to her tummy anytime she is on her back and is holding her head up like a pro. I swear one day soon I am going to see her crawl! She looks like she wants to already. She has a doctors appointment on Monday to get her 4 month shots, I can't believe she is 4 months already! I posted some new pics of her on our trip to Oklahoma with her cousins and then some of our trip to fredericksburg. Enjoy!

Hello from the Bristow family! Sorry about the long delay between posts again but we have been very busy. Things tend to get that way with a 3 month old. Well she is almost 3 months old but she is weighing in at that now! She is almost fourteen pounds! We are all doing great and baby Madelyn is growing like a weed! She had her two month check up on the 11th and had her shots. Lets just say she did not like that very much! She is smiling all the time and starting to giggle a little too. She has also found her fingers recently and just loves to suck away! She is growing so fast and I would love to share some new pics. They will be up shortly, mommy just needs to figure out how to put them on! Haha.. Take care everyone and we will update you again soon with the adventure of Madelyns life.

New news from Hutto..

Sorry for the long delay between posts, if you can imagine, it's been fairly busy down here! The wife is doing well, tired, but well. We took Madelyn into the ER last night because she was spitting up a bit and just wanted to make sure she was golden, which she was. This morning, she went to see her own doctor and was told that she may be having an allergic reaction to the supplement that we are giving her so back to 100% nursing.. Genea is way excited too... ha. ( I'll slap myself for saying that )

Other than that, busy busy, check out the new pics below and stay tuned for more updates.....

Back in H-Town

Today the Bristow's made their way back to H-Town to pick up Momma B's car and other essentials. We'll be here until Sunday when we head back to Hutto. Other than that exciting piece of news, there's not really anything at all going on. I'll try to get some more photos updated here soon so you can all see her grow up as we do!

Tuesday at the Bristow's....

Well, mommy is sleeping, the dogs are sleeping, the baby is sleeping, and daddy is stuck here watching a soap opera because the remote is on the other side of the room and the baby is asleep on me!!! It's ok, I think I might survive. I did want to give you all an update on our little peanuts measurements.... yesterday, they re-weighed her and she's only two oz's shy of her birth weight at 8lbs 9oz's and measuring 20.5" long. Other than that, all is at a stand still here. Hopefully if I can get the family moving around here in a little bit, I'll get them to IKEA and maybe, if we have time, Bed Bath and Beyond.... only if we have time.... :)

Take care -- The Bristows!

The Bristow's are Home!

Well, actually, The Bristow's arrived in Hutto on Thursday but have been super lazy for the last 3 days. Madelyn had a doctors appointment this morning and she did VERY well. They had to poke her and get some blood and she didn't even cry! That was just precautionary, but, we do have to schedule an ultrasound this next week to get her hip checked out. The doctor said that there was a small click in her hip and wanted to make sure it was "up there" far enough.

All in all, things are good here at the Bristow household. We'll try to keep you posted a little better going forward, but it's hard between all the naps!!! ;o) Take Care.....

Routines are starting to form....

A week and a half into our adventure, and we're all starting to get the hang of things. Genea is a great mommy ( as we all knew she would be ) and daddy, well, he's simply magnificent. ;o)

Baby Madelyn is doing well; a little fussy last night and starting to spit up more but it's all normal. She's also starting to shed her outer layer of skin ( like the lizard we knew she was!!)

For all of you Austinites reading this, The Bristow family will be making their way back to Hutto this Thursday so keep your eyes peeled for an email to come by this Saturday or Sunday and check out the little Angel!

Our first Bristow family checkup...

This morning at 7:50am we took Genea to the doctor to get her stitches and pain meds checked out which she passed with flying colors. She's still in a little bit of pain so we've moved her Vicadin intake from every 4 hours, to every 3 hours.

Baby Madelyn went in to the doctor as well at 10:45am. They measured her and she shrunk by half an inch!!! She's currently at 20.5". They also took her weight and she weighed in at 8 lbs 2 oz. That's about 9 oz lighter than her birth weight but they said it's ok as long as she starts to gain it back quickly.

Our next appointment for the baby will be in two weeks in Austin so I'll post another update and let you know how our little Angel is doing.

Other than that, everything is moving really slowly here in the Woodlands. We're all trying to get some sleep whenever possible and now with TWO little babies in the house ( Danielle came in with her 4 week old ) this house is about as quiet as a kiss concert.... But we're lovin' it.

Stay tuned and we'll try to have more pictures updated just as soon as we get them!!!!

First days home....

Well, Madelyn Rose is home from the hospital and still getting acclimated to her new surroundings. She was a little uncomfortable last night and did a lot of crying but she is much better today. Oh, and by the way, I just changed my first poopy diaper so pat on the back for me!

Other than that, all is well. Genea is still doing good and we're both just trying to catch up on our sleep. ( which is easier to say than do )

So stay tuned and check out her new pics below!

Welcome to parenthood....

Last night was like looking at the future through a crystal ball..... It was really the first time that little Madelyn Rose showed the world her wonderful opera voice. And although she's American Idol quality, mommy and daddy are both fairly pooped this morning.

Genea is doing well and gaining more mobility by the hour. Madelyn is feeding away at the moment and ( probably missing her daddy holding her ;o)

Thanks to all who have shared their best wishes and love with us these last few days. It's really been a bright spot for Genea and we'll continue to post more pictures and udpates to this site as we get them!!!

Day 2, in the books....

Today was another wonderful day with our newest addition to the Bristow family. She said her first word, took her first steps, and.... obviously lying :o)

Today was a good day though. Lots of sleeping, lots of eating, and hopefully by this time tomorrow we'll be out of the hospital and at home. Home.. the place without sofa beds and 2 hour nurse wake up calls... about as close to heaven as you can get...

One day down.... 78,968,675 more to go!

Well, against most of my friends predictions, I ( and Genea ) made it through day one successfully! Genea is doing well and starting to walk around again; the baby is still eating, pooping, and not sleeping as much as we'd like her to!!! haha..

Overall, a great first day. I'm going to bed ( for 15 min ) and Genea says hello to all!!!

What a day...

First, let me say, for all you soon to be mothers out there, don't be scared about everyone telling you there's no sleep with a new born. Because I got a solid 3 hours last night ( hours not in succession ) :O)

Although it was long, it was well worth it. Not a lot of crying at all, but she likes to wimper and that's enough to coax her daddy into picking her up and loving her.

Genea and the baby are both doing fine. She was a trooper yesterday and I think she'll tell you that all the time it took was well worth having our little Madelyn Rose finally with us!

Saturday, February 9, 2008

It's official....

Baby Madelyn is here!!! She was born at 6:29pm CST at an amazing 8lbs 11oz. She's 21" long and loving her Mommy and Daddy! Pictures below....

Labor update....

Well, this last checkup said that she was 4CM dialated so we're making progress! Once she reaches 5 CM, the average is 1CM an hour so we're looking around 8 - 9pm tonight if everything goes to plan.

Still at the hospital...

No new news yet. Still waiting here at the hospital for her to dialte to 10 CM which is probably going to be around late tonight. So stay tuned, and don't worry, I'm getting and will get plenty of pics along with some good videos... ( not the actual birth haha )

At the hospital....

So, I should retract my remark about those "half full" people as it appears the baby will be here well before the Feb 12th due date. Currently, we're at the hospital watching Genea fight through contractions that are 2 minutes a part. Good news is, she just got an epidural and her new favorite game is counting the pink floating elephants.... ;o)

Anyhow, stay tuned and I'll have some pics up as soon as she shoots out!

Wednesday, February 6, 2008

Half Empty....

For all of you "Half Glass full" people out there that thought that Madelyn would come early.... You were wrong. Looks like we're going beyond the due date and she'll probably be induced no more than a week after the 12th. So sit tight people and keep your phones close...

Tuesday, February 5, 2008

No appreciation without anticipation.....

Well, we found out that Genea is still having her ultrasound today to see the little critter but her exam got pushed back to tomorrow. I'll update everyone when we find out how much time we have before "take-off."

Friday, February 1, 2008

It's official....

Today sparks the beginning of Genea's 39th week of pregnancy. It shouldn't be long now before the world stops spinning and they declare a national holiday in the name of Madelyn Rose Bristow.

No other news, Genea's last checkup went fine and this next Tuesday they will examine her to find out if Baby Madelyn is on her way or not.

So stay tuned.......

Is she breached?

Tuesday the 25th was another exciting day for the Bristow family as we found out our once little peanut is now close to 7lbs. The checkup went fine except for her bladder was really full so they are going to sonogram it once she is born. Other than that, the baby is not breached like the doctor thought and should be clear sailing from here! ( Due date is still set for February 12th )
