Our first Bristow family checkup...

This morning at 7:50am we took Genea to the doctor to get her stitches and pain meds checked out which she passed with flying colors. She's still in a little bit of pain so we've moved her Vicadin intake from every 4 hours, to every 3 hours.

Baby Madelyn went in to the doctor as well at 10:45am. They measured her and she shrunk by half an inch!!! She's currently at 20.5". They also took her weight and she weighed in at 8 lbs 2 oz. That's about 9 oz lighter than her birth weight but they said it's ok as long as she starts to gain it back quickly.

Our next appointment for the baby will be in two weeks in Austin so I'll post another update and let you know how our little Angel is doing.

Other than that, everything is moving really slowly here in the Woodlands. We're all trying to get some sleep whenever possible and now with TWO little babies in the house ( Danielle came in with her 4 week old ) this house is about as quiet as a kiss concert.... But we're lovin' it.

Stay tuned and we'll try to have more pictures updated just as soon as we get them!!!!

First days home....

Well, Madelyn Rose is home from the hospital and still getting acclimated to her new surroundings. She was a little uncomfortable last night and did a lot of crying but she is much better today. Oh, and by the way, I just changed my first poopy diaper so pat on the back for me!

Other than that, all is well. Genea is still doing good and we're both just trying to catch up on our sleep. ( which is easier to say than do )

So stay tuned and check out her new pics below!

Welcome to parenthood....

Last night was like looking at the future through a crystal ball..... It was really the first time that little Madelyn Rose showed the world her wonderful opera voice. And although she's American Idol quality, mommy and daddy are both fairly pooped this morning.

Genea is doing well and gaining more mobility by the hour. Madelyn is feeding away at the moment and ( probably missing her daddy holding her ;o)

Thanks to all who have shared their best wishes and love with us these last few days. It's really been a bright spot for Genea and we'll continue to post more pictures and udpates to this site as we get them!!!

Day 2, in the books....

Today was another wonderful day with our newest addition to the Bristow family. She said her first word, took her first steps, and.... obviously lying :o)

Today was a good day though. Lots of sleeping, lots of eating, and hopefully by this time tomorrow we'll be out of the hospital and at home. Home.. the place without sofa beds and 2 hour nurse wake up calls... about as close to heaven as you can get...

One day down.... 78,968,675 more to go!

Well, against most of my friends predictions, I ( and Genea ) made it through day one successfully! Genea is doing well and starting to walk around again; the baby is still eating, pooping, and not sleeping as much as we'd like her to!!! haha..

Overall, a great first day. I'm going to bed ( for 15 min ) and Genea says hello to all!!!

What a day...

First, let me say, for all you soon to be mothers out there, don't be scared about everyone telling you there's no sleep with a new born. Because I got a solid 3 hours last night ( hours not in succession ) :O)

Although it was long, it was well worth it. Not a lot of crying at all, but she likes to wimper and that's enough to coax her daddy into picking her up and loving her.

Genea and the baby are both doing fine. She was a trooper yesterday and I think she'll tell you that all the time it took was well worth having our little Madelyn Rose finally with us!
